PARENTING TEENS EVENT   |   SATURDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER   |   10AM TO 4PM

Why we exist

The idea of a Parenting Teens Event was conceived by parents of teens who, like many parents, felt inexperienced and ill-equipped to confidently guide their teens through the next few critical years of their development and their lives.

As we strive to prepare our children for the rest of their lives, the teen years are by far the most challenging and important in setting the direction and foundations of a happy healthy and fulfilled life. There were so many questions and no obvious place to turn for the answers. The more professionals we spoke to the more we realised how many other parents were feeling exactly the same way and would benefit so much from their guidance.

“Bringing these professionals together with equally challenged parents seemed like the obvious thing to do.”

– Liesel Edis - Developer of the Parenting Teens Event.

One minute those sweet, innocent little eyes were looking up at you with so much love. Your child wanted your time and attention. They needed you and didn’t like being separated from you. They thought you were funny and totally wonderful.

Then whamo!
You blinked, and suddenly they’re scowling at you with daggers in their eyes, like they are about to eat you if you dare open your mouth. You’re now embarrassing, annoying and totally unfair.

You ask yourself…
Where did my gorgeous young child go?
And who has taken up residence in my child’s body?
What are they doing on social media?
How do I know if they’re being bullied at school?
Should I help them more with their school work?
When should they get their first job?
How do I talk to them about sex and relationships?
What do I do if they seem depressed or start talking about suicide?
A kid showed them what on the bus?!
Would I know if they were taking drugs?
Should I let them drink at their friend’s party?

It’s easy to feel completely overwhelmed as the parent of a teenager, but you’re not alone. Our mission is to guide you, support you and encourage you, at our one-day Parenting Teens event.
